History: Constituted as 536 Bombardment Squadron (Heavy) on 28 Oct 1942. Activated on 3 Nov 1942. Inactivated on 31 Mar 1944. Consolidated (19 Sep 1985) with the 336 Troop Carrier Squadron, Medium, which was constituted on 10 May 1949. Activated in the Reserve on 26 Jun 1949. Ordered to Active Service on 1 May 1951. Inactivated on 1 Feb 1953. Activated in the Reserve on 1 Apr 1953. Redesignated as 336 Military Airlift Squadron on 1 Oct 1966. Ordered to Active Service on 26 Jan 1968. Relieved from Active Duty on 2 Jun 1969. Redesignated as: 336 Tactical Airlift Squadron on 1 Apr 1972; 336 Air Refueling Squadron, Heavy on 1 Oct 1976; 336 Air Refueling Squadron on 1 Feb 1992.
