Official blazon
German In Rot ein silberner Schrägrechtswellenbalken, darüber drei goldene Ähren, darunter eine goldene ostfriesische Tjalk
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on November 10, 1966.

The wavy bend represents the Sautel Canal; the Tjalk (a traditional boat type) for the centuries-long shipping tradition on the Ems and in the moors. The ears of corn symbolize the cultivation of the moorland into fertile farmland.
