Origin/meaning

The arms were never used by the municipality, but designed in 2005.

The red field is taken from the arms of the medieval Ritter von Wahnebergen, after which the village is named. The family got extinct in 1230.

The wavy bend symbolises the Aller river, the horse is taken from the arms of Niedersachsen and also refers to the horse breeding in the village. The oak branch refers to the forest near the village.
