Origin/meaning

The arms were officially adopted on November 29, 2023.

The nail refers to the fact that before 1790 the village depended on the high lordship of the bishopric of Verdun.

The purse refers to Saint Lawrence, deacon and treasurer of the church of Rome, to whom the local church is dedicated. The horse's head and the sprigs of clover indicate the importance of horse breeding in the community.

The Roman tiles indicate the former importance of tile manufacturing in the village.

The golden snake is that of the sculpture sealed to the left of the entrance door to the village town hall, inaugurated in 2022. It is the work of André Forfert (1938–2012). Having lived in Grimaucourt-en-Woëvre in 1974/78, André Forfertwas alerted by the stained teeth of the children of Grimaucourt, Herméville and Moranville and he discovered that the water collected contained an exorbitant level of fluoride. He led a three-year fight to obtain a decree from the Ministry of Health and the distribution, in these villages, of water with a lower fluoride level to be used.
