553RD INTELLIGENCE SQUADRON, US AIR FORCE

History: Constituted as 10 Photographic Squadron on 7 May 1942. Activated on 14 May 1942. Redesignated as: 10 Photographic Reconnaissance Squadron on 9 Jun 1942; 10 Photographic Squadron (Light) on 6 Feb 1943; 10 Photographic Reconnaissance Squadron on 11 Feb 1943. Disbanded on 1 May 1944. Reconstituted and consolidated (19 Sep 1985) with 553 Reconnaissance Squadron, which was constituted and activated on 9 Feb 1967. Organized at Otis AFB, MA, on 25 Feb 1967; station changed to Korat AB, Thailand on 31 Oct 1967. Inactivated on 31 Dec 1971. Redesignated as 553 Tactical Intelligence Squadron on 18 Sep 1985. Unit remained inactive. Redesignated as 533 Intelligence Squadron on 9 Jun 2022. Activated on 1 Jul 2022.
