All seals since the 13<sup>th</sup> century until the 19<sup>th</sup> century showed the imperial eagle. After the city had become a part of Baden in the early 19<sup>th</sup> century, the arms showed the eagle with a breastshield of Baden, and with the crest and supporters of Baden. Zell im Harmersbach was founded by the Gengenbach Abbey in the 13th century and became an imperial city in the 14th century. All seals since the 13th century until the 19th century showed the imperial eagle. After the city had become a part of Baden in the early 19th century, the arms showed the eagle with a breastshield of Baden, and with the crest and supporters of Baden. Since 1903 the old arms are restored.
