Wildon.jpg

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on November 17, 1544.

The arms were granted by King Ferdinand I. The tower symbolises the local castle at the Schlossberg The savage or the Wilder Mann ('wild man') and his club are taken from a local legend. In a cave on the Schlossberg once lived a savage man, who often mistreated the villagers of Wildon. He was finally binded by a local virgin with a knitting needle.
