WÖRTH AM MAIN
State : Bayern
District (Kreis) : Miltenberg (until 1973 Obernburg am Main)
Official blazon
(de) Geviert durch ein schmales rotes Kreuz; 1: in Rot eine goldene Krone, 2 und 3: in zwei Reihen silbernes und blaues Feh, 4: rot.
Origin/meaning
The above arms are used since 1819.
The arms are those of the Lords von Kronberg, with the addition of a red cross. The family acquired the village in 1624 and ruled as vassals of the Prince-Bishops of Mainz, as the area was part of the State of Mainz. Prior to 1819 the seals of the city showed the bishop of Mainz.
The arms by Hupp in the Kaffee Hag albums +/- 1925 |
