Origin/meaning

The trees in the arms indicate that the area historically was famous for its nurseries. This is symbolised by the large and the many small trees. The nurseries were quite important for the village, so that in the late 19th century it was proposed to name the village Vitry aux arbres (Vitry with/at the trees), instead of Vitry sur Seine.

The other elements are symbols of the modern industries in the town.
