Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on May 8, 1996.

The crown and the swallow are canting elements, Vilar is derived from town and andorinha means swallow. The old name of the village was Vilar de Febres (in 1146) and the Andorinho part is derived from Andoninus, a local parish priest.

The black hill is the local mountain, the onions are the main local crop. The local onions are of high quality and often exported. The villages also have the nickname Ceboleiros (cebola is onion).
The base symbolises the Febres river.
