VERBANDSGEMEINDE ULMEN
State : Rheinland-Pfalz
District (Kreis) : Cochem-Zell (until 1969 Cochem)
Official blazon
Über einem erhöhten, schwarzen Bogenschildfuß (Berg), darin ein goldener Ulmenzweig, in Silber ein roter Sparren-Schrägbalken; Schildbord von Silber und Rot Sechzehnfach gestückt.
Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on September 22, 1987.
The base shows a black hill and a canting elm (Ulme) branch. It also symbolises the landscape and tourism. The bar refers to the Pyrmont estate to which 9 municipalities in the Verbandsgemeinde historically belonged.
The bordure is typical for a Verbandsgemeinde and has 20 fields for the 20 municipalities in the Verbandsgemeinde in 1987. The colours of the bordure are those of the State of Trier, to which the whole area belonged until 1803.
