UNIVERSITY PARK

State : Maryland

Arms (crest) of University Park

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms derive from the arms of the state of Maryland, which are the quartered arms of the founding families of Calvert (Paly of five, sable and or, a bend counterchanged) and Crossland (red and white stylized cross). The lamp signifies learning at the university. The symbols in the base dexter quarter are symbols of the state of Maryland: the state bird (Baltimore oriole), tree (white oak), and flower (black-eyed Susan).
