Official blazon

In Silber auf blauem Dreiberg stehend ein rot gekleideter barhäuptiger Mann, der ein goldenes Sieb mit beiden Händen hält.

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on April 25, 1486 by Duke George the Rich of Bayern-Landshut. The arms were confirmed on September 6, 1972.

The arms show a farmer holding a sieve and sieving grains. The sieve, Triftern, is a canting element. The composition never changed, but the size, shape and colours of the man and the sieve have varied widely during the centuries. The man has even been shown naked, holding a kind of large basket during the 19th century. The above image has been used since the late 19th century and is based on the original diploma from 1486.
