Origin/meaning

The municipality was created after the merger of many small municipalities, none of which used arms. Thus the new arms show symbols for the whole area. The apples symbolise the intensive horticulture in the region. The horseshoe symbolises horse breeding and racing in the area, it also is a symbol of good luck. The oak leaf symbolises the many forests and is also a canting symbol (Wald=forest). Green and silver are the colours of Sachsen.
