SPREE-NEISSE (SPN)

State : Brandenburg
Additions : 1993 Cottbus-Land, Forst, Guben, Spremberg

Spreenei.kreis.jpg

Origin/meaning :
The arms were granted on September 6, 1995.

The four quarters in the arms represent the four dormer districts. The lobster stands for Cottbus Land and is derived from the arms of the city of Cottbus. The lion is the lion of the Kingdom of Bohemia, as the Estate of Spremberg was owned by the Bohemian Kings. The crown in the third quarter also refers to the Bohemian Kings, but stands for the Estate of Guben, another royal possession. The fourth quarter shows the antler taken from the arms of the Lords of Biberstein and represents Forst.
