Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on October 25, 1972.
The arms show three chevrons, the arms of the Ravensberg County, to which the area historically belonged. The fibula (Spange) is a canting symbol.
The previous arms were granted on August 14, 1931.
These arms show in the upper half the composition of St. Martin and the beggar. St. Martin is the patron saint of the village. The base shows again the Ravensberg arms.
Literature: Meyer, 1940.
