Origin/meaning

The arms were designed in 1940, but officially granted in 1951.

The banner (gonfanion) is taken from the arms of the Counts of Montfort-Bregenz, the oldest known Lords of Simmerberg. The division line is derived from the arms of the Lords of Weiler (see Weiler im Allgäu), who had many rights in the town until 1570.

Literature: Stadler, 1964-1971, 8 volumes.
