German In Blau auf grünem Boden stehend ein golden bewehrter silberner Ochse in einer goldenen Umzäunung.
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The oldest known image of the arms dates from 1562 and shows the ox facing left instead of right, but otherwise the arms have not changed since. The colours were also the same colours as the above arms. The present arms, with the ox facing right have been used since the early 19th century.

The origin of the ox is not known, but there exists a local legend on the origin. After a large flood in the area the only surviving animal was an ox, as it could not break through or jump over the fences of the Abbey grounds.
