Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on November 28, 1963.

The wavy bar shows the Naab river, that runs through the town. The upper half shows the local bridge, which has played a major role in the local development. The small house was the customs office on the bridge. The black field is canting (Schwarzenfeld=black-field). The lower half shows a carp, as carp breeding has been a major activity since the 19th century. The colours are those of the Counts of Leuchtenberg, who ruled the area for a long time.

Literature: Stadler, 1964-1971, 8 volumes.
