Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on July 12, 1994.

The lion is taken from the arms of the Counts Von Gleichen, who owned most of the village from the 15th century until 1631. The lion was also used by the village on its seals until 1925. The cross is taken from the arms of the Hersfeld Abbey which had considerable interests in the village for many centuries.
