The oldest seal of the city is known since 1569, but it probably dates from the middle of the 15^th century. It already shows the canting key (Schlüssel) taken from the Schlüsselberg family, who ruled the city until 1347. The stars appeared on an image in the local church from the 15^th century and one century later they also appear on the seals. The colours are known since 1819.
