Origin/meaning

Schönsee received city rights in 1393, and the oldest seals are known from the early 15th century. The seal already shows a branch and leaves of a water lily, which maybe symbolising the -See (lake) part of the name. All later seals and images show the same element, the size and shape of the branch has varied widely during the centuries. The colours are known since the 18th century.

Hupp showed in the 1920s the arms with the leaves facing left:

The arms by Hupp in the Kaffee Hag albums +/- 1925
