Origin/meaning

The arms were designed in 1933 and officially granted on August 29, 1936.

The deer skulland balls are the arms of the Counts of Dassel, who historically ruled the area. The horn symbolises the hunting rights of the Counts in the local forests.

Literature : Erlebte Heimat, Die Wappen der Gemeinden des Kreises Northeim, 1966.
