Badge: On a field Argent, issunat from a base wavy charged with two barrulets wavy Argent a demi-eagle displayed sable , in its beak a key bendwise ward thief, Or, all within a circular border of cable also Or, ensigned with the crest of the Arms of the Republic of South Africa Proper, upon a tablet, Or bearing the name SALDANHA in letters Sable. Motto: Veritas omnium victrix

Origin/meaning

The Badge is bassed on the Arms of the Portuguese Admiral Antonio de Saldanha for which the Bay where SAS Saldanha is located is named. Following Royal Navy Practice this Land base is Commissioned as a Ship bearing the SAS = South African Ship Prefix. SAS Saldanha provides training and development for ratings.
