The arms were adopted in 1971 and combine the arms of the two historical Lords of the two villages. The lords of Richebourg-l'Avoué were the Lords of Béthune, who used 5 golden bends in blue. Richebourg-Saint-Vaast was owned by the St. Vaast Abbey, which used a red cross in gold.
