Origin/meaning

The chevron resembles a the roof structure of the house that houses the family. It is also the symbol of the spiritual Temple that is the Church.

The tongues of fire symbolize the Holy Spirit, considered as a force of light. It recalls the Pentecost which among the Jews commemorated the delivery of the tables of the law, and among the Christians, the descent of the Holy Spirit on the assembled Apostles. It is under his divine impulse that the intelligence of man opens to the knowledge of duty and it is in him, Spirit divine, that the will finds the strength to conform to it.

The book is the symbol of science and wisdom. The open book is the one that offers his thoughts and feelings. It represents the Word of God.

These Alpha and Omega constitute the beginning and the end of the Greek alphabet. The author of the Apocalypse attributes these two letters to Jesus Christ, the faithful Witness, the Prince of kings of the earth; I am Alpha and Omega, says the Lord God. It means that Christ is the One who is, who was, and who comes, the Almighty.
