Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on December 9, 1976.

The arms show the red chevrons of the arms of the Counts of Ravensberg, as the area historically belonged to the Ravensberg county.

The base shows the tower on the Nonnenstein hill. The green hills also symbolise the Wiehengebirge in the municipality.
