====Origin/meaning====
These arms, traditional in the town, have been officially granted on 7th October 1997.

These are the arms of the counts of Prades, who belonged to the House of Barcelona: they show duplicated the royal arms of Catalonia-Aragon (four pales Gules on Or) and the fleurs-de-lis with the label of the Naples branch of Anjou. The crown at the top of the arms is a count's crown. The first counts of Prades (14th century), that owned the castle and the fortified town, were formed by the infant Peter, son of the king James II of Catalonia-Aragon, and Bianca of Naples. The Prades family has played an important role in the history of Catalonia since its founding times.
