Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on February 23, 1987.
The squirrel is taken from the arms of Jörg Treytelkhofer, caretaker of the Breitenau estate in the village, whose grave from 1453 is still visible in the local church. The crossed keys are the symbol for the St. Peter's Abbey in Salzburg, which owned the Breitenau estate for more as 1000 years.
The hill in the base refers to the geographical situation of the municipality.
