In Silber der schwarze lateinische Großbuchstabe O. Origin/meaningOwen was founded before 1225 by the Dukes of Teck close to their castle. In the early 14th century the city became a possession of Württemberg. The letter O as the town's initial appeared for the first time in the 15th century seals. As arms the O is known since 1535. From the late 17th until the early 20th century often a deer antler of Württemberg was placed over the letter O. The present arms were officially adopted in 1931 and are identical to the 16th century arms.
