Twee naast elkaar geplaatste schilden: rechts van zilver met drie hermelijnstaartjes van sabel; links: van zilver met een dubbele adelaat van sabel, gebekt, getongd en gepoot van keel, de borst beladen met een gouden ster met zes stralen.
Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on June 28, 1966.
The history of Oplinter is very complicated. The area of the municipality was historically divided into two estates, which have been in the possession of a number of families. The local court used since the 14th century a seal with the image of St. Genoveva, the local patron saint.
In 1963 the municipality applied for arms with the saint, but the Flemish Heraldic Council refused this, as the practice at the time was to grant the arms of the last Lords of the village. In this case there were two, so the arms granted in 1966 showed the arms of the Crabbé family (ermine) and the Wouters family (eagle).
