Official blazon

Unter silbernem Schildhaupt, darin ein durchgehendes schwarzes Balkenkreuz, in Rot ein verschlungener silberner Lindenzweig, der beiderseits mit je vier silbernen Blättern besetzt ist.

Origin/meaning

The arms were adopted on October 10, 1972 and officially granted on August 20, 1973.

The arms are those of the Counts of Aberdar-Obernzenn. The town belonged historically to the counts and used their arms on its seals at least since the 18th century. The chief shows the black cross of the Teutonic Order.

Until 1972 the town only used the lindenbranch, see image below.
