Official blazon

Auf blauem Schild ein goldener, rotbezungter und -bewehrter Greif.

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted in 1963.

The arms show a griffin, which is taken from the only known seal of the village dating from 1735. The meaning of the griffin is not known, but may be related to Giessen.

The arms below were proposed in 1956, with the griffin in silver.
