Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on September 7, 2001.

The main symbol in the arms is a kind of staff, locally known as the 'Mörserkeule', which symbolises the fact that the municipality used to be a place of a court. It is taken from the arms of the seal of the former Landscape (Landschaft) Stapelholm. It is also the main symbol in the arms of Amt Stapelholm. The same symbol can be seen in the arms of Süderstapel. The chief shows a sandy dune, the 'Twiebarg', a typical landmark of the village. The green symbolises the nature, the silver wavy bar the Treene river.
