Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on April 8, 2004.

The arms show the land (red) and the sea (blue), divided by a silver coastal strip formed by foaming waves. The fern and fish symbolise the region with a unique animal and vegetable world, rich in natural resources. The fern leaf is also a symbol of fertility, growth, renewal and embodies the rich natural resources of the area.

The fish symbolises the importance of modern fishing as well as the tribal economies of the indigenous peoples of the North. The blue also refers to the rivers (the main being the Tym) and lakes in the area.

The black oil drops refer to the oil-producing industry, an important sector in the economy of the region.

In 2001, a souvenir badge with the image below was made. These arms had no official status.
