Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on ??-??-1964

The eagle in the upper part is derived from the arms of the Lords of Holtrup, who owned the local Holtrup castle. The black bar symbolises the mining in the area, whereas the lightning rod symbolises the power station in Niederaussem.
