Wappen von Nieby/Arms (crest) of Nieby

German In Blau über goldenem Winkelschildfuß, darin ein mittenausgebrochenes blaues Schragenkreuz, vorn übereinander vier stilisierte silberne Möwen im Flug, hinten eine silberne hersehende Eule.
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on September 30, 2003.

The municipality of Nieby consists of the four villages of Nieby, Falshöft, Nieby-Westerfeld and Beveroe. 85% of the municipality is a protected natural area. The four seagulls symbolise the four villages as well as the geographical location near the sea. The blue colour also symbolises the presence of the sea. The owl represents the protected natural area. The base shows a yellow point, symbolising the Geltinger Birk, a sandy region near the sea. The blue cross symbolises the water mill 'Charlotte', used for reclaiming the land.
