Origin/meaning

Neubrunn was founded by the Counts of Wertheim, but became a possession of the Teutonic Order in the 13^th century. In 1323 Neubrunn received city rights from King Ludwig of Bayern and was heavily fortified. From 1655 until 1802 the city was a possession of the Bishops of Würzburg.

The arms were granted on September 28, 1964 and reflect the history of the town, showing a city wall with two small shields, the black cross of the Teutonic Order and the arms of the State of Würzburg.
