MEURA

State : Thüringen
District (Kreis) : Saalfeld-Rudolstadt

Wappen von Meura/Arms (crest) of Meura
Official blazon
German Halbgeteilt und gespalten; oben vorn in Grün eine goldene Arnikablüte, unten vorn von Gold und Grün durch Spitzenschnitt geteilt, hinten in Gold eine halbe grüne Linde am Spalt.
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on January 24, 1995.

The first quarter shows a flower of the Arnika montana, used as a symbol for the former importance of gathering and cultivating medicinal plants and the production of essential oils. The flower was already used on the early 20th century seal of the village.

The two points symbolise the mountains in the area, and at the same time the points form the initial of the municipality. The left half shows the local linden tree, a typical landmark in the village.
