Origin/meaning

As common in US episcopal heraldry, the arms show the arms of the diocese impaled with the personal arms of the bishop.

The distinctively shaped cross indicates Bishop Moreno's devotion to Our Lady of Guadalupe. The cross can be seen on the broach worn by Our Lady of Guadalupe as she is seen on the tilma of Juan Diego.

The motto's English translation is ""I count upon Christ."" An episcopal cross supports the shield and the motto.

The achievement is completed with the heraldic insignia of a prelate of the rank of bishop by instruction of the Holy See, of March 1969, confirmed in March 2001.
