Official blazon
German In Gold zwei rote Zinnentürme über einem blauen Dreiberg, aus dem ein blauer Minzenstengel herauswächst
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted in 1928 and are based on the oldest seal of the city, known since 1274. The towers symbolise the local castle, founded in 1160 by Kuno von Münzenberg. The leaf is a mint plant, a canting symbol for the family, which also appeared on the arms of the family. All later seals and images have shown the same composition, only sometimes with a silver field.
