LICHTERVELDE

Province : West-Vlaanderen

Lichterv.jpg

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on May 7, 1840 and confirmed on March 1, 1993.

The arms are derived from the ancient arms of the Lords of Lichtervelde, known since the 14th century. The arms also appear as village arms on the seal of the local council in the 18th century.

As the Lords of Lichtervelde had many possessions, their arms appear in the arms of many more municipalities, such as : Esen, Koolskamp, Moerzeke and Zarren.
