Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on January 29, 1957, and confirmed December 11, 1973.

The lion in the upper part of the arms is the lion of the Lords of Rötteln, who had their main castle in the Wiesenthal in the district. The 3rd quarter shows the arms of Baden, as the viscounts of Baden had large possessions around Rötteln. The wavy bar in the 4th quarter represents the Wiesefluss, a small river flowing through the district.
