County : Šiauliai
Municipality : Joniškis

Arms (crest) of Kriukai

Official blazon

Raudoname skydo lauke auksinis kryžius saulutė.

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on July 13, 2005.

The wrought cross symbolizes old traditions of smithery (the local folk etymology even originates the name of the town from Kriukis, the ancient god of smiths) and very original crosses crafted by smiths of Kriukai (the Lithuanian cross-crafting was among the first 19 masterpieces of the oral and intangible heritage of mankind, declared by UNESCO).
