KOBENZ

State : Steiermark
District : Knittelfeld

Kobenz.jpg

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on March 2, 1970.

The arms consist of references to St. Rupert, the patron saint of Kobenz (Salzkufe, salt bucket), and to agriculture (plough-share). The crosier states the fact that Kobenz was the first parish in the region, a so-called Mutterpfarre (mother-parish). Christianity started at Kobenz and then spread in the surroundings.
