Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on November 26, 1937.

The arms were newly devised as there were no old arms or seals known. The eagle is the imperial eagle in the colours of the Abbey in Wenden. Until 1803 the town belonged to this monastery, which was a free imperial monastery, and thus was ruled directly by the Emperors. The lower part shows the local bridge, which was first mentioned in 1280.
