German

Über grünem Wellenschildfuß, dieser belegt mit zwei silbernen Wellenfäden, in Gold ein dreiblättriger grüner Stechpalmenzweig.

English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on November 24, 1994.

The arms show three holly leaves (Ilex sp.), a species that grows in the municipality.

The branch represents the main road going through Kattendorf with the leaves representing the three directions going off the main intersection and thus representing the three settlements of the municipality.

The waves below on green background represent the Kattenbek-river that runs through the village. The arms that were finally adopted were one of the four designs that were made for the municipality.

A first design showed a canting cat's claw and was rejected by the municipality. The three other designs all showed the three holly leaves. The final design (as shown above) combined the leaves with the Kattenbek river and was accepted by the municipality on June 25, 1994, the other two designs combined the leaves with the Kattenberg hill in the municipality.
