Official blazon

Sinisessä kilvessä kultainen kolmitorninen linna hopeavuorella, joka ulottuu kilven alareunaan saakka. Vuoressa on poikittain juokseva virta, sen alla sinisessä ympyrässä kuusipuolainen kultaratas.

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on July 23, 1943.

The arms show a large castle with three towers, which refers to the three former castles or estates in the area. The wavy bar symbolise sthe Mustionjoki river, which was a major transport route to the interior of the country and thus of great importance for the development of the city. The wheel refers to the railway junction in the city.
