Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on December 7, 1990 (to the Regional Services Council) and again on September 12, 1997.
The Kalahari area is rich in minerals specifically iron ore hence the use oft the old chemical symbol for iron (the arrow with two bars). The cross of bows and arrows symbolises the San or Bushmen living in the area.
The supporters are Kori Bustards, found in the Kalahari Desert.
