The castle played a major role in the Hungarian history when in 1532 the Turks were going to invade Hungary. According to the history, the Turks planned to first invade Köszeg to build a front, and then march forward to take control over Vienna. But when they came to Köszeg with 60 000 soldiers, they met a massive defence of 800 men and thick brick walls. These 800 men managed to defeat the big army, and the Turks lost so much power that they were unable to move against Vienna. | |||
